I like to share one of my experience with my good client.
We are working for him since last 4 years and I share very good relationship with him, he sent an email with lot of harsh words before few days saying I missed to renew one of his domain name and his competitor taken the domain now, he said he will be suing us for 10 million Euro, I got shocked by that email.
I logged in MSN and he came to chat and started using rubbish language, I told him that we discussed for this domain name, but from India we cannot book other country extension and if we need to do, we need his passport copy and company MOU, he replied before 2 years that he will get it done himself, he replied in chat thats unbelievable and he never told like that and its my responsibility to renew it every year and he was scolding me in bad languages.
I searched my E-Mail archives and got my old email before 2 years with him and got the E-mail in which he formally informed me that he will take care of the Domain Registration from his side as it is too complicated from India.
I forwarded him that E-Mail and chat log of MSN before 2 years between both of us, once he received that email, he was asking apologize from me.
Moral of the story, thought the Client Relationship good with us, we should have all communication in E-mail to have formal records.
He sent formal apologize E-mail to and I kept it for formal record.
So i recommend all Sales people to have all communication in E-mail for future reference.
